It was a dreary, gross, boring, nasty, rainy day. So, instead of being out having fun (or profiting from other peoples' inattentiveness), Liddi was cooped up inside. She was sitting and practicing with her lockpicks. Upside-down. On the ceiling.
Komaru returns from whatever he was doing in the market, heavily swathed in an oil-cloth cloak. As he removes it, he stares up at the young woman on the ceiling, sighing and shaking his head.
"You know, when I implied that boredom makes you climb the walls, that was meant to be a figure of speech, Lid..."
Liddi stretches and promptly falls off the ceiling. She manages to land mostly gracefully (9+ref). After righting herself, she says "I wasn't climbing the walls, I was sitting on the ceiling" and sticks out her tongue. "Oh, I was practicing with my picks, too. I think I almost got this one!"
"To get to the ceiling, you must have had to climb the wall first," he points out, affectionately mussing her hair because he knows she hates it. "But good job on the lock. We'll get you there yet," he promises, hanging up his cloak with one hand and carefully holding a box to his chest with the other.
Komaru snorts, smiling and shaking his head. "Didn't you promise to limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day?" he asks, grinning and not answering her question. But he is, carefully, holding the box out of the halfling's reach.
"I did have just one cup! You never specified a maximum size. Just because it's closer to a quart than a regular cup... And don't think I didn't notice you dodging my question, foxy." She scrunches her face and sticks out her tongue again.
"Okay, okay, I'll behave if I have to." She tilts her head at the scratching. "So... what IS in the box?" She's trying to stand as still as she can, which means general fidgeting but her feet are actually staying in one place.
She darts to the table and sits on her chair (it's a bit higher to make up for the fact that the table was made for tall folks and not normal-sized halflings like her). She sits on her feet to keep from bouncing her leg and waits half expectantly and half patiently for Komaru to open the box.
"It's called a ferret. I gather they're quite common in other parts of the world, but I don't know. Something about it reminded me of you. Apparently, you can train them to pick pockets..."
She reaches one of her hands out and lets the ferret sniff it before she gently picks it up (16+wis). She holds it up with one hand under its' back legs and another by its' front legs. "He's so cute! I shall call him... HAROLD!"
"Uh... right. That's much better," he answers, clearing his throat as he watches the furry little lady sniff around. "I even got you a carrier for her."
